Nawakwa's Will Swingle Elected 2010 National Vice Chief

Congratulations to Nawakwa Lodge's Will Swingle who was elected to be the Order of the Arrow's 2010 National Vice Chief.  Will, who is a past Nawakwa Lodge Chief and Section SR7A Chief (two terms), is the first Nawakwa brother to serve as a national officer.  

Will has been active with Troop 521 in Mechanicsville and earned Scouting's highest rank of Eagle Scout. Will is an outstanding young man, a freshman at Christopher Newport University, and the son of Tim and Carolyn Swingle of Mechanicsville. At the 2009 Fall Fellowship/Banquet, Will was presented the James E. West Fellowship Award for his service to Scouting, and he had the rare privilege of presenting the Founder's Award to his father, Tim Swingle.  

In his role as National Vice Chief, Will is going to travel the country representing the Order of the Arrow at national, area, section, and council functions/events. His term of office will run through calendar year 2010, the 100th anniversary year of the Boy Scouts of America. Congratulations Will Swingle!!!

2010 SR-7A Conclave

Conclave 2009 will be hosted by Tutelo Lodge #161 at  Camp Powhatan in Hiwassee, Virginia. The dates are April 23 through April 25, 2010. The lodge registration fee is $50.00. Transportation will be coordinated by chapters. A conclave is where the lodges of the section (Section SR-7A consists of 6 Virginia lodges) get together for training, competition, and fellowship. Of course, the Saturday night block party is a feast that shouldn’t be missed. Conclave also gives OA members the opportunity to visit the different camps across the state.

Washington / Jefferson Trail Crew

This coming spring, Nawakwa Lodge 3 will be continuing the legacy of what ArrowCorps5 started in 2008 at George Washington and Jefferson National Forest. On the weekend of April 9-11, 2010, a group of about 100 OA brothers will set out to link together a three-mile section of the ArrowCorps Loop trail left unfinished by the ArrowCorps5 contingency. Youth ages 14 and up are encouraged to sign up for this weekend of cheerful service and great fellowship.

All current and recently inducted members must pay their dues for the 2010 year in order to continue to receive the Tom-Tom and in order to be elligible to attend lodge functions. You may pay your dues with the Dues Form available here. If you have not yet paid your 2010 lodge dues, please do so right now.

Spring Service Weekend

The Spring Service Weekend is scheduled for March 19-21, 2010. The registration form can be downloaded here. The deadline for registrations is Wednesday, March 10th.

The form above is NOT to be used by new Ordeal Candidates nor by those members eligible to attain Brotherhood status. Special invitations with registration forms will be sent separately via US Mail to people in these groups.

Name badges have a white background with red beveled edges, red arrow emblem, red lettering, and clutch back fasteners. Return a completed Order Form including a check or money order in the amount of $8.00 for each name badge you want. Price is for complete badge including engraving of up to three lines (your name, "Nawakwa Lodge #3", your chapter name). Your badge will be mailed to you within about four weeks.
