Cub Adventure Camp is the Cub Scout Summer Resident Camp of the Heart of Virginia Council #602 (Richmond, VA) of the Boy Scouts of America.

In the 1990's a committee of volunteers envisioned a camping atmosphere at the Council Scout Reservation that would provide for Cub Scout age youth the excitement and wonder experienced by all boys of this age. In 1998, our council embarked upon the largest capitalcampaign in its history, “The Campaign for Family Values”.The purpose of this campaign was to strengthen Scouting in central Virginia and to raise thenecessary funds to enable the vision of a Cub Scout Adventure Camp to become a reality. It is our hope that the vision created and the subsequent facilities brought forth from this vision and the funding of the capital campaign will encourage every Cub & Webelos Scout to experience camping and the Cub Scout program as he has never had the opportunity to do before.

The Cub Adventure Camp is located on the Heart of Virginia Scout Reservation in Goochland County, Virginia. The Cub Camp is situated on 120 acres adjacent to Boy Scout Camps T. Brady Saunders and S. Douglas Fleet. The Cub Camp is the newest facility on the reservation, in its fifth season after opening in July 2002. Its facilities and management are surely one of the most current and exciting within the United States.

The themes for Cub Adventure Camp rotate each year. Theme-related programs incorporate the purpose of Cub Scouting which is to develop and build character in our youth while having fun. The program that the Cub Scouts will participate in allows them to of experiences and activities. Through the activities they learn to develop character traits and experience the Cub Scout Motto: “Do Your Best”.

Facilities available for use by Scouts include a central dining hall, numerous theme-based camping areas, such as the Western Fort, the improved Tee Pee Village, Mountain Cabins, Yurt Village, and Baloo Tent Village along with several summer camp style camping tent areas.

Program areas that we have are: a nature center, an 800-seat amphitheater, a 64-foot long Discovery Ship with fishing area, a “New World” style Fort for BB’s, archery, and games. Also available is a mineshaft and cave, handicraft lodge, a Castle which houses our pool and spray ground, a BMX Track, and much more!
